Ethical Guidelines for Blockchain Systems

The Expert Group on Blockchain Ethics has achieved a significant milestone by unveiling the official guidelines for blockchain systems within the European Union (EU).

This pioneering document, commissioned with the primary objective of ensuring that blockchain systems align with and promote European values, marks a pivotal moment in the realm of blockchain technology and its ethical implications within the EU framework.

It represents a dedicated year-long collaborative effort by a panel comprising ten distinguished blockchain experts. The guidelines comprehensively address the following thematic areas:

– Privacy
– Security
– Economic Accountability
– Societal Responsibility

EU Expert Group on Blockchain Ethics

The European Blockchain Center has initiated the Expert Group on Blockchain Ethics (EGBE). The group, consisting of ten experts with backgrounds in blockchain technology, philosophy, computer ethics, and law, is developing the first official ethical guidelines for blockchain systems, based on European values.
